Our trip to Los Pecanes was fantastic. Totally what we needed, a place where we could do nothing at all and relax.
The night before was fun, we sat in a smaller room for dinner and all started talking in mixed Spanish/English and Portuguese. This guy was traveling with his mom from Porto Allegre, Brazil and he spoke some English. Enough to tell us how he used to live in Hollywood, CA and delivered pizzas. random. He was funny and had this great voice that really belong to some old man that had been smoking Marlbros for 50 years. I also found out that one of the women staying from BA, Laura, spoke great English, her dad was a translator. I wish I would have talked to her earlier, she was so nice and fun to chat with. We talked about how much of their entertainment was in English or dubbed in English. Seriously, most of the shows and radio stations are American. The cable channels are, for the most part, American channels. They also had the "Retro" channel that played Miami Vice and other old '80s shows and movies. I also told her to watch out for Grey's Anatomy- it hadn't started there yet. The Simpsons are really big there right now, so when I said my name was Lisa, he husband chimed in with two of the only English words I heard from him the entire time "OH! Lisa Simpson!!". uh, okay, yah like that.
On our last day we found out we could go back at 5:30 or 6:30 a.m. or wait until after lunch and leave at 3:30 or 4:30. So we decided to stay until 3:30 and have another lunch. We scored another asado lunch- woo hoo! We had another couple show up and a family arrive for the day- with a toddler in tow. He was cranky from the trip and totally reminded me why we did not bring children with us.
It was funny. We were all at breakfast and the 10ish boat arrives. We all gawk at the boat to see who was joining us. Ana and Richard kiss us all good morning as usual. She said hello to our new guests and informed them that they would get kisses tomorrow. :)
We did a lot of hanging out, it was hot again of course, but nice to be able to cool off in the water. We would not have been able to do that back in town.
So after a great lunch of lots and lots of meat, fresh organic salads (made from veggies in their own garden out back!) vino blanco and cold ice cream, we were off! We waved and blew kisses to everyone from the boat and headed back into the real world, well, vacation real world. :)

We got back to Tigre and decided to take the Tren de la Costa back, more scenic and touristy- and most importantly it had AIR CONDITIONING! It was a bit more, like a buck or two a piece, but not a big deal. I really can't remember. We thought we got on at the same station as the other train. nope. We had to go over to the other side of the Mc D's and over by the amusement park, which actually looked pretty fun. Had we not be returning from our trip, we probably would have hit that and the artisan market that was also in that area. The train allows you to get on and off as much as you like from Tigre to Olivos- cute little towns, but we just were along for the ride. Once in Olivos you get off and just walk to the other side of the station and hop on the train to Retrio station. We get back grab a cab and head back "home". I think we just grabbed food at San Juanino, yes again.
BA Gripe- Portenos apparently don't like spicy foods. I get that. But plain ol potato chips? come on. My chip choices regular potato chips (ala Lays), potato chips without salt, and lightly seasoned potato chips with tomato and herbs. They also had some funky cheetos flavor, again, super bland. When we flew back into Miami, one of the first things I did was grab a bag of Jalapeno chips. I don't really even eat chips, but when you feel like a bag and can't have 'em, you crave 'em. I deal with the lack of chip options, only because they have the best ice cream I've ever tasted. ;)
